GTA 6 Cut Features Explained: Hurricanes, Prone, Dual Wielding and More
Claims about GTA 6 cut features are spreading months before release. The most repeated list includes dynamic hurricanes or tornadoes, dual-wielded weapons, a redesigned cover system, portable music outside vehicles and prone movement.
The problem is not that these ideas are impossible. The problem is the word “cut.” To prove a feature was removed, reliable evidence must first establish that Rockstar developed it for the shipping game and then abandoned it. Rockstar has not confirmed any of these five systems as either planned or removed.
Watch our original cut-features breakdown.
Confirmed facts versus cut-content claims
Confirmed: GTA 6 is scheduled for November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has released two trailers, screenshots and official pages covering characters, locations, editions and story activities.
Unverified: Rockstar has not announced dynamic hurricanes, dual wielding, prone controls, a portable radio or a specific new cover system. It has also not said that any of them were removed.
Absence from a trailer is not evidence of cancellation. Marketing footage shows selected story moments, not every mechanic. The opposite is also true: a visual resemblance to a mechanic does not confirm how players can control it.
Our guide to reliable GTA 6 news and fake leaks explains how to trace claims back to their earliest source.
Were hurricanes and tornadoes cut from GTA 6?
Leonida is inspired by Florida, so extreme-weather theories feel believable. Official footage shows varied skies, rain and detailed environmental conditions. PlayStation also says DualSense feedback will react to environmental factors.
None of that confirms simulated hurricanes or tornadoes. “Environmental factors” can include rain, road surfaces, impacts, wind or many other effects.
Claims that Rockstar cut major storms have circulated through alleged insiders and secondhand summaries. Without an official statement, a verifiable development document or independent reporting with attributable sources, the responsible label is unverified rumor.
Weather can also exist in several forms. A story mission may use a scripted storm even if the open world does not generate dynamic hurricanes. A dramatic cloud system is not automatically a destructive weather mechanic.
Is dual wielding confirmed or cut?
Dual wielding would let a character use two weapons simultaneously. Rockstar previously used the mechanic in games including Red Dead Redemption 2, so fans naturally wonder whether it could appear in GTA 6.
Official GTA 6 material has not explained weapon controls or loadouts in that level of detail. Screenshots of characters holding weapons do not demonstrate two independent firearms, aiming rules, reload behavior or inventory restrictions.
Current verdict: Dual wielding is neither confirmed nor officially cut. A past Rockstar mechanic establishes precedent, not implementation.
For another example of this distinction, our GTA 6 police AI analysis separates visible evidence and patents from promised gameplay.
What about a redesigned cover system?
GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 use contextual cover, making a revised GTA 6 system plausible. Trailer scenes show armed confrontations and characters moving around vehicles and buildings, but edited cinematics cannot reveal the complete control scheme.
Rumors may refer to animation experiments, early prototypes or interpretations of unauthorized development material. Even when an early build contains a mechanic, it may change repeatedly before launch.
Calling the cover system “leaked” is already uncertain; calling it “cut” requires another unsupported step. Rockstar has not published a gameplay demonstration showing the final system.
Can Jason or Lucia listen to music outside a car?
Portable music is a popular request because GTA radio is traditionally tied to vehicles. A phone, earbuds or portable speaker could let music continue while players explore on foot.
Rockstar has confirmed music-related characters and businesses within Leonida, but that is story and world-building information. It does not establish a player-controlled portable radio.
No official feature page currently promises on-foot radio, and no official statement says it was removed. Treat both claims as speculation.
Was prone movement removed?
Prone movement would allow characters to lie flat, potentially affecting stealth, shooting and cover. The feature could fit Rockstar’s push toward detailed animation, but it would also require camera, collision, enemy-awareness and level-design support.
The official trailers do not provide a clear player-controlled prone demonstration. A character being low to the ground in a scripted scene is not enough to identify an input or reusable mechanic.
Current verdict: Prone movement is unconfirmed, and reports that it was cut remain unverified.
Why a job listing does not confirm a feature
A studio job listing can reveal areas of expertise—such as animation, physics, weather, artificial intelligence or tools development. It does not reveal which experiments will appear in a specific game.
Large studios build reusable technology, prototype alternatives and support multiple projects. A weather specialist could work on lighting, clouds, rain, optimization or authoring tools without building player-facing hurricanes.
Job listings are useful context. They should not be translated into a checklist of promised GTA 6 mechanics.
Why games change during development
Features can be revised or removed for many ordinary reasons:
- They do not work reliably with missions or the open world.
- Performance costs are too high on target consoles.
- Controls become overloaded or conflict with other systems.
- Testing shows the feature is not enjoyable.
- The mechanic creates animation, collision or accessibility problems.
- A system is saved for a later update or another project.
This is normal development, not evidence of a troubled production. The difficulty is determining whether a particular rumor reflects a real prototype, a misunderstanding or fabrication.
Take-Two’s regulatory filings warn generally that product schedules and development involve risk, but they do not identify these five features or describe them as cuts.
How to judge future GTA 6 feature claims
Use a simple evidence order:
- Check Rockstar’s GTA 6 site, Newswire and official trailers.
- Look for a direct Rockstar or Take-Two statement.
- Distinguish visible footage from assumptions about player control.
- Trace reports to the earliest available source.
- Require independent corroboration before calling a rumor confirmed.
If Trailer 3 or a gameplay presentation demonstrates one of these systems, the evidence can be updated. Until then, the honest conclusion is that hurricanes, dual wielding, prone movement, portable radio and a redesigned cover system are all unresolved—not confirmed casualties.
