Confirmed: Take-Two obtained court approval for a Microsoft subpoena
On August 21, 2026, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York signed an order directing the clerk to issue a subpoena to Microsoft Corporation. The court document states that Take-Two sought information identifying people or entities believed to be infringing its copyright.
That is stronger evidence than a social-media rumor: it is a public federal-court record. Reporting collected by The Verge says Take-Two also pursued information from Discord and later filed requests involving Google and X. The requested material relates to accounts and records that could help identify alleged infringers connected to the leaked GTA 6 content.
The legal wording is important. A subpoena request is an evidence-gathering step, not proof that a named account holder committed a crime, stole a build or personally recorded every clip. It also does not prove every video circulating under the Cyberleek name is authentic. The process is designed to obtain records that may help Take-Two establish who was involved.

Confirmed: Microsoft says it is working with Take-Two and Rockstar
Xbox chief technology officer Scott Van Vliet said on August 21 that Microsoft was working closely with Take-Two and Rockstar Games to support efforts to protect creative works and intellectual property. That statement confirms cooperation, but it does not reveal what Microsoft has found or whether it has identified the source.
It is therefore premature to claim that the leak definitely originated from an Xbox development kit, OneDrive account or Microsoft employee. The court filings seek records; they do not publicly establish the leak’s technical route. Any theory about the exact device, employee, contractor or network remains unverified unless supported by evidence released through the case or a statement from the companies.
Confirmed: Rockstar has not made a public leak statement
As of August 24, Rockstar’s public Newswire and GTA 6 pages do not contain a statement specifically addressing this August leak wave. That differs from the September 2022 breach, when Rockstar publicly acknowledged that an unauthorized third party had accessed and downloaded confidential information.

Claims about the company’s precise security changes, the age of the leaked build or the amount of material held by the leaker remain incomplete.
The August 27 presentation is still officially scheduled
Rockstar’s official GTA 6 site continues to list “An Extended Look” for August 27 at 3 p.m. ET on Netflix. Rockstar has also said the presentation will reach its YouTube channel and GTA 6 website at 9 p.m. ET that evening.
The alleged leaks have not produced an announced postponement. Reporting cited in the source videos also says Rockstar did not plan to change the presentation, but the official schedule is the safest reference. Until Rockstar or Netflix updates that schedule, claims that the event has been canceled or delayed are unsupported.
The leaks may reduce the surprise for people who watched them, but unfinished, unauthorized clips are not a substitute for a controlled presentation.
