This guide replaces the early retailer-placeholder information published before June 25 and explains how to identify a legitimate GTA 6 listing today.
Official places to preorder GTA 6
Rockstar currently directs buyers to:

Retail availability can vary. A major store's name alone does not guarantee that every third-party marketplace seller on its website is authorized, so check who is actually selling and fulfilling the order.
What happened to the early placeholder pages?
Before preorders opened on June 25, retailers created landing pages containing temporary artwork, product codes or estimated prices. Those pages were useful signs that store systems were preparing, but they were not authoritative sources for final pricing or edition contents.
Now that Rockstar has published official information, outdated placeholder details should be ignored. Compare a retailer listing with Rockstar's current store and support pages before ordering.
Warning signs include:
- A price that differs dramatically from supported storefronts without explanation
- An unannounced Collector's Edition or merchandise bundle
- Claims of early access that Rockstar has not announced
- A physical listing that promises a playable disc
- Vague region information for a PlayStation download code
- A marketplace seller with unclear delivery or refund terms
Digital or code-in-box?
Digital purchases are attached directly to the platform account and can begin preloading on November 12 at local midnight.
The physical version is a code-in-box product. Rockstar says there is no disc. Retail copies are expected to begin shipping or become available for pickup on November 12, and the enclosed code can be redeemed to download the game.
Choose digital if preload timing and direct account delivery are the priority. Choose a boxed copy if you want the retail case or prefer buying from a physical retailer, while understanding that the code cannot be reused after redemption.
Check the platform and region
GTA 6 is currently announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC release date has not been confirmed.
PlayStation codes must support the region associated with the redeeming PlayStation account. Importing a boxed PS5 copy can therefore create an activation problem even when the voucher is unused.
Rockstar's current support guidance says Xbox codes are not region-locked, although buyers should still use a trusted retailer and confirm the product details.

Choose the correct edition
The Standard Edition costs $79.99 in the United States and contains the full base game. The digital Ultimate Edition costs $99.99 and adds confirmed vehicles, weapons, styles, shops and businesses.
