How to Preorder GTA 6 on Xbox From a Phone or PC
You can preorder GTA 6 for Xbox Series X|S from a phone or PC without opening Microsoft Store on the console. The purchase will appear on Xbox when you use the same Microsoft account.

Before you preorder
Make sure you have:
- A Microsoft account used on your Xbox Series X or Series S.
- Access to the official Microsoft Store website.
- A valid payment method or Microsoft account balance.
- A billing address that matches the account region.
- A choice between Standard and Ultimate Edition.
GTA 6 has not been announced for Xbox One. Rockstar lists the game for Xbox Series X|S and PS5, with release scheduled for November 19, 2026. Digital preload begins November 12.
Step 1: Sign into the correct Microsoft account
On your phone or PC, open the official Microsoft Store website and select Sign in. Use the account that owns your Xbox profile and will play GTA 6.
Check the account avatar or email before shopping. Many players have separate work, school and gaming Microsoft accounts. A purchase on the wrong account can be difficult to correct and will not automatically transfer to the intended profile.
Never follow an unsolicited message that asks you to “verify” the account before buying. Type the Microsoft Store address yourself or use Rockstar’s official preorder page to reach the platform listing.
Step 2: Find the Xbox Series X|S product
Search Microsoft Store for “Grand Theft Auto VI.” Open the official Rockstar Games result and verify that the compatibility field says Xbox Series X|S.
Do not buy a similarly named guide, add-on, virtual currency package or Xbox One title. GTA 6 does not have a confirmed Xbox One version.
The store page should display the available editions. If the listing is unavailable, check whether the Microsoft account and payment method are set to a supported region rather than purchasing a foreign code.
Step 3: Choose Standard or Ultimate
Standard contains the complete base game. Ultimate adds Rockstar’s listed collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, customization businesses and story activities.
Ultimate is not required for the main Jason and Lucia campaign. Choose it based on the named content, not claims that it is necessary for online play, an ending or unannounced future DLC.

Select Preorder or Buy and review the order page. Before confirmation, verify:
- Product is Grand Theft Auto VI.
- Platform is Xbox Series X|S.
- Edition is the intended tier.
- Microsoft account is correct.
- Currency, billing address and total are correct.
Complete Microsoft’s payment prompts. If the page appears to stall, do not immediately submit a second order. Open Microsoft account order history and look for the transaction first.
Keep the confirmation email and order number private. Microsoft support may ask for the order number, but it should never be posted on social media or given to an unofficial reseller.
How Xbox preorder billing works
Microsoft says preorder charge timing varies. When an order is paid entirely with Microsoft account credit, the balance may be deducted earlier. When another payment method is used, charging can occur closer to release.
Keep the payment method valid and maintain sufficient funds. An expired card or declined charge can jeopardize a preorder. Review the status in order history and update the payment method through Microsoft’s own account pages if needed.
Prices and taxes depend on region. Do not assume a screenshot from another country represents your final total. Discounted gift cards and rewards can sometimes reduce effective cost, but promotions vary and are not guaranteed.
Step 5: Confirm the purchase on Xbox
When you next use your Xbox, sign into the purchasing account and open My games & apps, then Full library and Owned games. The GTA 6 preorder should appear when the transaction and license have synchronized.
You can also review Order history through a browser. If the item is missing, wait for processing, refresh the account and check for a confirmation email before buying again.
For a mistaken edition, consult Microsoft’s cancellation and refund rules. Do not place a replacement order until you know the first has been canceled or support confirms how to proceed.
Step 6: Prepare for the November preload
Rockstar says digital preloading starts November 12. That is not the release date: GTA 6 becomes playable on November 19 under the current schedule.

Series X, Series S and retail codes
Both Xbox Series X and Series S are supported. Series S is digital-only. Series X has a disc drive, but Rockstar currently describes the retail GTA 6 Standard Edition as a physical box containing a download code rather than a game disc.

Imported codes can be region-restricted. Buy from an authorized seller and confirm region, platform and edition. Never send payment to an individual who promises a scarce “early access” code; digital store inventory is not a limited collector’s object.

Check the Microsoft account region and the Store footer. Payment method and billing region generally need to align.
Xbox does not show the game

The order says pending

A listing promises an Xbox One version
