Release date and platforms
GTA 6 is scheduled for Thursday, November 19, 2026. Rockstar originally announced a 2025 window, later moved the game to May 26, 2026 and then set the current November date.
The company names PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It does not list PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2 or PC. A later PC release is plausible based on Rockstar's history, but our GTA 6 PC release analysis explains why no exact year is confirmed.
Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos
Jason grew up around criminals, served in the Army and later worked for drug runners in the Leonida Keys. Rockstar describes him as wanting an easy life while circumstances become harder.
Lucia learned to fight from her father, spent time in the Leonida Penitentiary and wants the better life her mother imagined after their earlier years in Liberty City. Rockstar presents her as disciplined about improving her odds after leaving prison.
The official story setup says an easy score goes wrong, placing Jason and Lucia inside a conspiracy stretching across Leonida. They must rely on each other to survive.
Confirmed: Both characters are central to the story.
Not confirmed: The exact character-switching rules, ending structure or whether the entire campaign is playable from both perspectives.

Rockstar's “Only in Leonida” presentation introduces:
- Cal Hampton: Jason's friend, an associate of Brian and a committed conspiracy theorist.
- Boobie Ike: A Vice City figure with interests in real estate, a club and a recording studio.
- Dre'Quan Priest: A hustler trying to build Only Raw Records.
- Real Dimez: Bae-Luxe and Roxy, a rap duo using music and social media to chase another hit.
- Raul Bautista: An experienced bank robber whose appetite for risk raises the stakes.
- Brian Heder: A longtime smuggler who lets Jason stay at one of his properties in exchange for work.
These biographies confirm relationships and backgrounds, not exact mission counts or playable status.
The GTA 6 map and six official regions
Rockstar has highlighted six destinations:
Vice City
The urban center of the story returns in modern form with beaches, nightlife, dense roads and competing layers of wealth and crime.
Leonida Keys
The island chain is tied to Jason's early circumstances and Brian's smuggling operation. Official imagery shows water, bridges, boats and relaxed coastal spaces.
Grassrivers
Leonida's wetland region uses mangroves, waterways and dangerous wildlife to create a very different environment from Vice City.
Port Gellhorn

An industrial community centered on the Allied Crystal sugar refinery, with the local Final Chapter biker gang part of its social landscape.
Mount Kalaga National Park
A northern wilderness of forests, rivers and rough terrain. Rockstar's description references hunting, fishing and trails.

What gameplay is confirmed?
Rockstar has not published a complete gameplay manual, but official footage and edition materials establish several broad elements.
- Driving and a wide range of vehicles return.
- Firearms, robberies and police activity appear.
- Boats and other water travel are prominent.
- Clothing, hair and tattoo customization are included in official edition content.
- Vehicle customization businesses and specialized vehicles are named.
- The game includes a single-player story.
- Modern phones, video feeds and social-media-style presentation are part of Leonida's satire.
A scene appearing in a trailer does not automatically prove free-form interaction. It may be gameplay, a mission moment or a cinematic.
Graphics and performance
Trailer 2 and Rockstar's screenshots show dense crowds, detailed interiors, lighting, reflections and varied environments. Technical analysts have argued that official footage demonstrates sophisticated ray-traced effects.

Standard and Ultimate Editions
The U.S. standard edition is listed at $79.99. The Ultimate Edition is $99.99 and includes premium vehicles, weapons, apparel and activities connected to Jason and Lucia's story.
Purchases made before November 20, 2026 include the Vintage Vice City Pack under Rockstar's announced terms. Eligible digital pre-orders also include a month of GTA+.
